UltraSystems provides Cultural Resource Monitoring for Rose Creek Village Development
National CORE contracted UltraSystems to provide cultural resource monitoring for the Rose Creek Village project in Pacific Beach, San Diego, CA. Through the partnership of National CORE and San Diego Community Housing Corporation (SCCHC), this housing development will be able to provide homes for low-income individuals, small families and veterans.
Rose Creek Village will have 59 studios and one 2-bedroom manager’s apartment. The majority of apartments will be available to residents earning 30-60% of the area median income; however, 18 of the apartments will be reserved for permanent supportive housing for veterans who have experienced homelessness. The building will be energy efficient with rooftop and façade solar panels. On-site facilities will include a community room, bike hub laundry facilities and barbeque area.
The Hope through Housing Foundation, a non-profit affiliate with National CORE, provides services supporting residents and will be providing the following: GED classes, computer training, nutrition and cooking classes, health and exercises classes, art classes and parenting classes. Partnerships with the County of San Diego Behavioral Health Services, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and other community -based organizations will provide additional support services to ensure long-term housing stability.
UltraSystems is conducting cultural resources monitoring and preparing a historical evaluation for this project. Archaeological monitoring is being done in coordination with Native American tribal monitors during ground-disturbing activities such as grading, demolition, trenching and excavation. The Historical Evaluation is being conducted to evaluate potential impacts to historic-period built-environment resources in accordance with CEQA and local regulatory requirements.
UltraSystems is excited to have another opportunity to work with their long-time partner, National CORE, on this San Diego based urban infill residential development project. The team is coordinating closely with the client, tribal representatives, and the City of San Diego to ensure regulatory compliance while maintaining construction schedules to protect sensitive cultural resources.
