UltraSystems Prepares Initial Study for New Facility
UltraSystems is preparing all environmental documents for the construction of a new cold storage facility in Wilmington, CA for J DeLuca Fish Company, Inc. (J DeLuca). UltraSystems is honored to be part of the expansion of this family-owned and operated business through the development of its new distribution center.
J DeLuca was founded in 1977 in San Pedro, CA by John DeLuca, a third- generation fisherman. J DeLuca sits on the same dock where John’s grandfather used to unload his daily catch more than 100 years before. Much like his father and grandfather’s businesses, J DeLuca processes both fresh and frozen seafood. Today, the company proudly holds two certifications that demonstrate their commitment to sustainable fishing – the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Fisheries certification and the MSC Chain of Custody certification.
The new cold storage facility being constructed will be approximately 98,260 square feet and will be built in two phases to allow for the continuous operation of the business. UltraSystems is preparing an Initial Study/ Mitigated Negative Declaration (IS/MND) for the project. Various technical analyses will be conducted as part of the IS/MND including air quality and greenhouse gas analysis, noise and vibration impact assessment, a cultural resources investigation, paleontological resource assessment, traffic assessment, and biological resource assessment. These reports will help evaluate the impact the construction of the warehouse will have on the surrounding environment and determine if any mitigation or monitoring needs to be implemented.
