The City of West Hollywood Orders Environmental Impact Report for Landmark Project

UltraSystems Environmental is honored to be chosen by the City of West Hollywood to provide the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for an impressive new commercial development in the West End of the Sunset Specific Plan (SSP).

The project managed by Faring Capital will be a 5-story mixed use commercial building on the land previously occupied by Hornburg Los Angeles, a luxury car dealership. The new development will house retail, restaurant and office spaces on the first floor, with the additional floors reserved exclusively for office space. In keeping with the time-honored tradition of integrating billboards and signage with commercial buildings along The Strip, 9160-9167 Sunset will have a digital billboard wrapped façade on its north face.

The digital billboard is part of a new West Hollywood policy to expand the creative and artistic applications of billboards, while also preserving the historic nature of The Strip. The new development fully embraces the goals of the SSP in the West End area, including accommodating additional office buildings and providing space for “creative” industries and anchor businesses. Located at the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Cory Avenue, the new building has been designed to be “a visual and communal gateway to West Hollywood” according to Faring Capital.

Since beginning the project, UltraSystems Environmental has conducted the analysis of air quality/greenhouse gas emissions, biological and cultural resource surveys, noise and traffic studies in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Additionally, UltraSystems will continue to provide support for public engagement as it relates to the project.
