Biological Monitoring Services for the Sunrise Powerlink Project

UltraSystems will be providing biological mitigation monitoring services on behalf of Total Transportation Services Inc. (TTSI) for the Sunrise Powerlink Project. The project includes the construction of new electric transmission lines between the existing Imperial Valley substation near El Centro in Imperial County to San Diego Gas and Electric’s (SDG&Es) Sycamore Canyon Substation in coastal San Diego County. The entire project will extend approximately 118 miles on twenty-three project sites, and traverse private and public lands. UltraSystems is contracted to provide biological monitoring for six project sites (Yards, 1, 2, 3, 8, 14, and 19) as well as full-time monitoring during fencing construction on all twenty-three sites. UltraSystems’ biologists will provide monitoring to ensure that construction activities will conform to the measures of the mitigation monitoring, compliance, and reporting program and the recommendations of the project’s environmental documents. This will include the monitoring of sensitive floral and faunal species as well as sensitive habitats on/and in the vicinity of the project sites. Monitors will be present during grading, clearing, and fencing activities to ensure that sensitive species will not be disturbed.
