Stanley Mosk Courthouse Reactivation and Realignment
The Judicial Council of California (JCC) is planning two projects (Reactivation and Realignment) proposed for the interior of the Stanley Mosk Courthouse at 111 North Hill Street in the City of Los Angeles. The Realignment Project will remodel court support spaces on floors 1, 2, and 3. The Reactivation Project will reactivate Courtrooms that were temporarily repurposed for office uses, as well as remodel other court-related spaces on floors 2, 4, and 5.
Each of the two projects includes demolition and construction of new walls, ceilings, flooring, lighting, plumbing systems, modifications to the existing heating-ventilation-air-conditioning systems, and modifications to the fire alarm/fire sprinkler systems. Accessibility upgrades will remodel some public restrooms. The building has been found to be eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places and the California Register of Historical Resources both individually and as a contributor to the Los Angeles Civic Center Historic District.
UltraSystems retained CRM Tech as a subconsultant to conduct two historic building studies, one for each project. Each of the two studies consisted of a cultural resources records search, historical background research, a field inspection of the building, and project effect analysis in light of the findings.
