Harper Lake Avian Surveys
Quarterly bird surveys at the Luz Solar Energy Generating Systems (SEGS) VIII and IX evaporation ponds are conducted in compliance with terms and conditions as stated in the Final Biological Resources Mitigation Implementation Plan (BRMIP) for the Luz SEGS VIII, IX & X Project Area, Harper Lake, California (Luz Construction, February 1990). General site conditions, structural integrity of the parameter fencing, and additional wildlife observations along the margins of the ponds are recorded. Macro-invertebrate sampling is completed in late summer (August) at each of the evaporation ponds. Sampling for benthic or bottom dwelling organisms, planktonic or free-swimming organisms, and adult insects around the margins of the ponds are conducted. Each Quarterly monitoring period and the Macro-invertebrate sampling requires a technical report.
